Most holy Lord and God

Holy, Almighty God,

Holy and most merciful Savior,

Our eternal God

Grant that we may never

Lose the comforts from your death

Have mercy, O Lord.

#203MBW

I give thanks to you with all my heart, Lord. I sing your praise before all other gods.I bow toward your holy temple and thank your name, for your loyal love and faithfulness because you have made your name and word greater than everything else.

On the day I cried out, you answered me. You encouraged me with inner strength, Let them sing about the Lord’s ways because the Lord’s glory is great!

Even though the Lord is high, he can still see the lowly, but God keeps his distance from the arrogant.

Whenever I am in deep trouble, you make me live again; you send your power against my enemies’ wrath; you save me with your strong hand.

The Lord will do this for my sake. Your faithful love lasts forever, Lord! Don’t let go of what your hands have made.

Prayer of Invocation

Holy God, we gather to sing your praise and hear your word. Speak to us now, that we may be wise enough to perceive your call. Strengthen us now, that we may be brave enough to answer “Yes!” Guide us now, that we may follow where you would have us go. We pray that your Spirit will be our advocate, your word will be our guide, your love will be our comfort and your promises will be our hope. This we pray through Christ our Lord and Savior,
AMEN

Prayer of Confession

Christ Jesus, our High Priest, we confess that too often we have clung to thoughts that we are too sinful for you. Too often, we have fused our shameful pasts with a closed future. From these beliefs, we condemn ourselves to an outlook without hope, “Go away from me!” we exclaim like Peter. “I am way too lost,” we think like Isaiah. But you have something different in mind. You see us as so much more. You see our divine image, and our creator-bestowed gifts Save us from our negative self-talk, that we may embrace your calling for our lives.
AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

The grace of God has molded us throughout our lives and will continue to do so until our final breath. God’s grace is never in vain. Even as God embraces our past, God moves us into the future – a future filled with hope, and the fulfillment of dreams.

Prayers of Intercession

God of love and mercy, you have called us and all your children into one family through the resurrection of your Son Jesus. By his gracious presence, we look with new eyes at the whole human family in its brokenness and pain. We seek your strength and determination to embrace them, love them, heal them, and share with them your great good news of hope and new life. Hear us as we lift to you our deepest needs, our pressing burdens, our fears and hopes. Be near us we pray, as your people. Help us to receive your many gifts with gratitude and faithful stewardship. We pray for those who suffer pain or illness, for the lonely and despairing, for the lost and worn and battered of our world.

To the sick, O Lord, give our healing to the grieving, give hope, to the dying, give your peace and to all of us, O God, give faith to go forth from this place, determined to live in the light of your good news in Jesus Christ. It is in his name that we offer to you our prayers and our lives. Ame

Prayer for Today

Lord God, you are the great shepherd. We, like lost sheep, often wander and stray, but we are never out of your watchful eye, nor your loving heart. Through the Holy Spirit, fill us with wisdom and strength, and guide us safely through this day. We humbly come to you, in Jesus’ name.
Amen
