God of generations, we are all your children;
to your church we bring our gifts, our worship and our song.
Young and old we follow, hand in hand together:
in your great love, together we are strong.
God of men and women, Helper on our journey,
You have called us in our faith to grow and to mature.
May we keep on learning, worshipping, and praying,
that each new day, we’ll serve you all the more.
O God, you are the Giver of life. We pray for the church in the whole world. Sanctify her life, renew her worship, give power to her witnessing, restore her unity. Give strength to those who are searching together for that kind of obedience which creates unity. Heal the divisions separating your children one from another, so that they will make fast, with bonds of peace, the unity which the Spirit gives. Amen
Almighty God, even as the drums of warfare beat on through the night, even as the cries of injustice linger in the morning, even as the hustle of busyness rumbles through the day, quiet our hearts. Still our thoughts. Join us in our worship. Remember us in your mercy as we try to remember you, through the proclamation of your good news, in story and in song, and through the hospitality of your gracious table. Welcome us again, one Lord, Creator, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
Jesus prayed that we might be one. One in spirit. One in mission. In union and communion with each other and with You.
Call to Confession
Today, God, we confess fumblings and failures in accomplishing unity, as we set aside yet another day to remind ourselves of the task. On this World Communion Sunday, give us eyes to recognize your reflection in the eyes of Christians everywhere. Give us a mind to accept and celebrate our differences.
Give us a heart big enough to love your children everywhere. We thank you for setting a table with space enough for us all! Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Merciful Lord, you know that we are stubborn and willful. We believe that we know the right way to do everything and to heal all the troubles of the world. We resort to extraordinary means to provide healing only to find that we have not placed our trust in your redeeming love. Our efforts fall far short of the goal of reconciliation. Forgive us our stubbornness and arrogance. Heal our wounded souls and restore hope and compassion to our relationships with you and with each other. Lift us up and cause us to serve you by serving others in this world. AMEN.
Words of Assurance: Hear these words from the book of Hebrews: “The one who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. For this reason, Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters, saying, ‘I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters, in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.’ Hallelujah! Amen!
Intercessory Prayers:
God of justice and peace, you stand with those who are poor.
Now, in prayers spoken and unspoken, we call upon you for those who suffer the injustice of violence and want .
We call upon you for those who carry heavy burdens . . .
We call upon you for those we love and those who love us . . .
We call upon you for all people of all ethnicity, skin tone and languages, especially those who are vulnerable and neglected and abandoned
We call upon you for this nation, for fair election, for social, mental and physical needs…
On this World-wide Communion Sunday, we call upon you for your Church, for her public and faithful witness through the preaching of the Word and mission…
Where shall we go from your spirit, and how could we be away from your presence? If darkness covers us and night closes in on us, you are there. For the night is not dark for you but luminous as the day, and the two are one to you. Where shall we go from your spirit?Your presence is there, and here, and everywhere.
Spirit of the living God, present with us now, breathe in us and on these gifts of bread and wine, that sharing your blessing and your broken life we may share in your continual presence and reality, and together, as your body, remain in your love. In Jesus’ Name we pray, ame
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from whence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy universal Christian Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen
Watchword for the Week:
I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters, in the midst of the congregation I will praise you. Hebrews 2:12
Today’s Watchword:
Even the nations are like a drop from a bucket and are accounted as dust in the scales. Isaiah 40:15
Doctrinal Text:
Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of the gentiles also? Yes, of gentiles also. Romans 3:29
Prayer for today:
God of all, your glorious creation is a gift. We pledge to care for all you have laid out before us. From the smallest insects to the great trees of the forest, like us, they are yours. Most of all, we will work to care for the people of the Earth in the ways you have taught us. Help us to care for others with the love that comes from you, in Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Prayer for preparation:
I confess to you, O God, that I have sinned in thought, word and deed for which I am responsible. I am asking you to show mercy towards me. O Lord, forgive me all my sins, deliver me from the desire to sin, strengthen me in all goodness: and bring me to life everlasting through Jesus Christ, my Lord.
Prayer of Thanksgiving:
O living God, for your blessing in creation, for your image deep within us, for your life in all its fullness,
We give thanks.
O Jesus our brother, for your coming to earth, calling of us as your friends, for your sharing of our life and death,
We give you thanks.
O Spirit of grace and truth, for revealing yourself in community, healing us in our brokenness and inspiring us with courage to share,
We give you thanks.
O Trinity of love, for the promise of a spreading tree giving shade and protection, for the vision of a body in which each part works for the health of the whole, for the invitation to a feast where the despised will be guests of honor,
We give you thanks.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said: Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
