TWELFTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST 2021

With your presence, Lord, our Head and Savior,

bless them all we humbly pray;

Our dear heavenly father’s love and favor

be their comfort every day.

May God’s spirit now in each proceeding

favor them with his most gracious leading

thus, shall they be truly blessed

both in labor and in rest.

MBW # 447

This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made. We will rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made.

We know God as the Holy Spirit, who reveals the truth about God.
The world cannot receive the Spirit because it cannot see or know him. But we know him because the Spirit remains with us and is in us. God’s Spirit joins with our spirits to declare that we are God’s children. The Holy Spirit is the helper who stays with us forever.

When the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we receive power, and we become God’s witnesses. The fruit that the Spirit brings to the lives of those who follow Christ is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The diverse and empowering gifts of the Spirit are given to each one for the common good. None of us is useless to God. None of us is sufficient by ourselves. We serve through the body of Christ, and we depend on the people of Christ. The Spirit’s gifts are given to equip believers for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.

Lord Jesus Christ, Head of your body the church, we thank you with humble hearts that to fulfill our heavenly Father’s good will for the salvation of all, through the power of the Holy Spirit you came upon the members of our church in years past, to unite them in love and service to proclaim your name to all the world. We ask you today that through this same Spirit, you will anoint us to love you and each other, so that with our words and with our actions, we may bear true witness to you as Lord and Savior, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Doctrinal Text

I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am 1Corintians 15:9-10

Prayer for Today

Holy One, we are but the work of your voice: a unique whisper amid your vast creation. May we find strength to return to you, our source, that we could amplify your word throughout the world.
Amen.

Congregation Watchword for the Year
The Lord will bless his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

We praise thee, O God, for the Son of thy love,

for Jesus who died, and is now gone above.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory, hallelujah! Amen!

Hallelujah! Thine the glory, revive us again.

We praise thee, O God, for thy Spirit of light

who has shown us our Savior and scattered our night.

We praise thee, O God, for the joy thou hast giv’n

to thy saints in communion, these foretastes of heav’n.

Revive us again, fill each heart with thy love.

May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.
