Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the fight will not be long –
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor’s song.
To ev’ryone who conquers,
a crown of life shall be;
we with the King of glory
shall reign eternally.

Gracious God, we have come into this place to pray, to worship, to receive healing and hope. We come from struggles and triumphs this week, needing to feel the soothing presence of God. Lord be with us this day. Calm and soothe our souls. Cause us to rejoice that you have provided a special place where we may gather to talk of your presence and love; to sing your praises, and to be empowered to go forth to serve you. Amen.

God of love, you have loved us first and continue to love us. We come before you a people longing to love you in return. We hunger for your healing love in our lives, for we long to love ourselves and our neighbors. Come to us this day and fill our longing as we look to you in great expectation in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Mighty God and merciful God may your kindness be known to all. Hear the prayers of all who cry to you, open the eyes of those who never pray for themselves. Have mercy on those who are in misery, deal gently with those who sit in darkness, increase the number of those who love and serve you daily. Preserve our land from all things hurtful, preserve our Church from all dangerous error, preserve our people from forgetting that you are their Lord and Savior.

Be gracious to those countries that are made desolate by war, natural disasters, disease, or persecution, and grant that the course of the world may be so ordered in obedience to your will that the people may live in security and freedom from want, and their children grow up to be makers of peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

As we gather, we pray for those who are hurting, freedom for those in chains, joy for the sorrowful, light for those in darkness, and healing for those who are ill. We pray for those people every time as we offer up ourselves to follow the leadership of your Spirit in offering our gifts to be the hands and feet and heart and words of Christ.

We offer our lives and the gifts you have implanted within us – to be blessed and to be made useful. Use us, O God, by teaching us to better use the gifts you have given us so that all of our world’s tomorrows will be a little better, and your church more effective in meeting your people with the good news of God’s love. For we offer our prayers in Christ’s name. Amen.
