Lord of life and King of glory who didst deign a child to be.
Cradled on a mother’s bosom, throned upon a mother’s knee:
For the children Thou has given We must answer unto Thee!

Lord, on this day set aside to honor and remember mothers, we give you thanks for our mothers. We are grateful that you chose to give us life through them, and that they received the gift of life from your hands, and gave it to us. Thank you for the sacrifices they made in carrying us and giving birth. We thank you for the women
who raised us, who were our mothers in childhood. Whether birth mother, adopted mother, older sister, aunt, grandmother, stepmother, godmother, or someone else, we thank you for those women who held us and fed us, who cared for us and kissed away our pain. We pray that our lives may reflect the love they showed us, and that they would be pleased to be called our mothers. Amen

Today, Lord God, we give thanks and praise for all women and mothers; all who have joined you in the special task of co-creating. For them and their labors, we praise you.

For all women who have yielded their bodies as vessels and borne children and replenished your creation
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For women who have nurtured and cared for other people’s children and loved them as their own.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For women who each day make personal sacrifices as they toil to provide for fatherless children.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For women who have lost their lives while giving life to others.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, and for all other Christian women who taught their children the faith and to walk in your fear.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For women who have served and excelled in their chosen career and for those who have supported their efforts and lauded their achievements.
We give you thanks, O Lord.

For those women who have given of their best, whether with the family, the marketplace, the Church, or seats of leadership.
Father in heaven, we thank you.

We pray O Heavenly Father:
For mothers who have labored with men to bring up their children in your faith and favor. Strengthen them, O Lord

For women and mothers who teach our children in the classrooms of life.
Strengthen them, O Lord.

For those who are frustrated with demands and responsibilities of nurturing young lives. Strengthen them, O Lord

For those who feel broken and bruised by the pressures of this life.
Strengthen them, O Lord.

Lord, we pray for women who are victims of war and poverty and for those who are raped and brutalized daily.
Speak your peace, Lord, to the troubled sea of their lives and change their course. Speak your courage and your power that they may rise up and change the course of their lives. And let our cry come unto you. Give your grace and strength, merciful Lord.

Lord, we thank you for all women and our mothers. We are grateful for the sacrifice they have made. We thank you too for the Christian example they have set by raising those entrusted to their care in the house of God.
Forgive us where we have neglected to express our love and gratitude to those women whose lives have impacted ours. Lead us to honor and respect our mothers and the women in our lives.

May Almighty God bless all women and mothers. May Jesus Christ empower them to do His will. And, may the Holy Spirit lead them into all truth, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not
give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and
do not let it be afraid.”
